Sep 19 all-day
ROOTED in PEACE - Film Screening/Nat'l Conversation Around Peace @ Laemmle Claremont 5 Theatre | Claremont | California | United States

In celebration of the upcoming International Day of Peace, September 21st, we are hosting Greg Reitman’s ROOTED in PEACE – a globally transformative, socially-conscious, environmentally-based film. Reitman’s journey of self-analysis resonates with audiences seeking inner peace in a world full of people dominated by war, affected by global warming or haunted by inner conflict. The film follows him as he speaks to thought leaders around the world having conversations around sustainable development, discussing the challenges of our never-ending wars, and facing the realities of uncertainty placed on the world’s institutions by our current political climate. Reitman’s introspective and socially relevant documentary was most recently screened at the United Nations.

From the US to Costa Rica to India, award-winning filmmaker and environmental activist Greg Reitman traveled to visit such luminaries and activists as Deepak Chopra, music legends Donovan, Mike Love and Pete Seeger, film director David Lynch, Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire, Ted Turner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and many others. Their common ideas and examples make ROOTED in PEACE an unexpectedly inspirational viewing experience magnified by a stellar soundtrack opening with Pink Floyd’s ‘Time’ and closing with John Lennon’s ‘Love.’

Start your own 21 Day Gratitude Challenge any day!
START TODAY!!

Inspired by the 21-Day Gratitude Challenge (http://gratitudechallenge.com),  musicians Nimo Patel and Daniel Nahmod, brought together dozens of people from around the world to create this beautiful, heart-opening melody.

This song is a celebration of our spirit and all that is a blessing in life. For the 21 Days, over 11,000 participants from 118 countries learned that “gratefulness” is a habit cultivated consciously and a muscle built over time. As a famous Roman, Cicero, once said, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.”

Join others for 15 glorious minutes of Laughter Yoga on the phone as we celebrate 11 Days of Global Unity! Today, we culminate these 11 days as we mark the UN International Day of Peace. When Dr. Kataria, founder of Laughter Yoga, began spreading his vision of sharing intentional laughter, he recognized that Laughter is a universal language and since its founding in 1995, he has hoped others will share his vision of using shared intentional laughter to help the world find peace. I’m SURE I’ve enjoyed laughing with each and every person who has called in during the 11 Days of Global Unity. On this, our last call of this series, we will focus on Laughter Exercises that envision a more peaceful world. As always: no previous experience, no special clothes or equipment required. CALL: +1-218-339-2460 CODE: 52844# (LAUGH#) We’ll start with SMILE-UPsSM and get the giggles with silly, playful LAUGHTER exercises that help unite us as we decrease stress, anxiety and depression, increase joy, connection, creativity, energy, focus and productivity. and may the rotting fruits of anger
be turned to compost
through our inward efforts and outward compassion.

Awakening Humanity at Work

Leadership that Cultivates Compassion, Wisdom, and Well-Being in a New Age

Agriculture. Plant seedling. Hand nurturing young baby plants growing on fertile soil with natural green background

CCARE and Whirling Chief are excited to bring this unique leadership development retreat to California at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort. In this powerful three-day program we will explore the latest in neuroscience, the bio-psycho-physiology of compassion, and dynamic practices that support the development of compassion, wisdom, and well-being at work. A significant body of evidence shows that when people in power adopt a human-centered view of business and promote a culture of respect, trust, compassion, and wisdom, the performance of the organization rises along with individual wellness.Join us to expand your capacity for this kind of leadership.Reach out to us if you are interested in participating.

***********************************

The rise of artificial intelligence, robotics, and “smart” technologies powers change faster than ever. For some, this new era has ushered in prosperity and the potential to address some of humanity’s most vexing challenges in creative new ways. For others, however, this era of technological and social change has ushered in isolation, loneliness, and fear.

Humanity Needs a New Form of Leadership
A significant body of research shows that when people in positions of power adopt a human-centered view of business that emphasizes a culture of respect, trust, compassion, and wisdom, the performance of the organization rises along with individual well-being. Rigorous evidence from multiple disciplines demonstrates that organizations can recruit more talented people, retain them longer, draw out higher quality service, and engage in more rapid innovation when performance goes hand-in-hand with human thriving. Where people thrive, business thrives.

Audience
Corporate executives, organizational leaders and those in influencing roles who want to immerse in the new science of compassion and well-being and explore the strategic value of human-centered leadership to create stakeholder and shareholder value.

Program Objectives
In this powerful three-day program, we will use the latest research in neuroscience, the bio-physiology of compassion and well-being, and dynamic findings from organizational behavior and psychology to learn the skills of resilience and creating thriving organizations.

We will explore how a neuroscientific and physiological approach to building an organizational culture of compassion and well-being changes what you think you know about the basics of human and organizational psychology. Along with like-minded fellow travelers on a journey of evolution, we will participate in a discussion about how to develop new qualities within ourselves and within the organizational ecosystems where we live and create action plans that inspire our own compassion and well-being.

Some of the benefits you will experience through a combination of classroom learning, experiential work, discussion, and case study include:

  • Gain a better understanding of the scientific basis for an emphasis on compassion and well-being in the workplace and the motivators for compassion in business,
  • Increase consciousness and build skill in managing the physiology and psychology of human well-being,
  • Recognize thinking habits and biases that work for you and against you as you endeavour to cultivate compassion, wisdom, and well-being,
  • Learn about and experiment with some new taxonomy of ‘being’,
  • Use scenario planning to envision future states of ‘doing’,
  • Develop methodologies to lift self and others into new states of thriving and vitality in your organization
  • Develop approaches to reducing and responding to suffering at work that may otherwise be invisible or unaddressed in order to build collaboration and enhance working relationships.

Agenda
The three days of this program will emphasize a blend of classroom-style learning, expert presentations, and discussion with experiences that help you fully internalize and practice the skills and ideas that will change your life and your workplace.

Day 1: What is the new world of work and how shall humanity respond?
Day 2Awakening humanity in leadership: The crucial element of success in the new world of work
Day 3: A new kind of being, a new kind of business

Program Facilitators
Developed as a collaboration between Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) and Whirling Chief, the program will bring together best-selling author and renowned neurosurgeon Dr. James Doty with leadership expert and business guide Sesil Pir, principle of Whirling Chief.

Other facilitators include Monica Worline, research scientist at CCARE with expertise in compassion science and the field of Positive Organizational Scholarship; Aslı Aker, global leadership and organizational development expert; and Sinan Canan, neuroscientist and co-founder of Açık Beyin Academy.

Prem Rawat Foundation Supports Veterans With Peace Education Program

(Below is an excerpt regarding Aura Homes)

This article is also available in: French

For too many veterans, finding an enduring sense of peace remains elusive long after they return from war. They often face immense challenges as they transition to civilian life, from trauma disorders to unemployment and homelessness.

Thankfully, November 11 marks an occasion to honor their service and support solutions that can improve their lives. The date is Veterans Day in the United States, and in many other countries it is called Remembrance Day and Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.

A growing number of veterans say the Peace Education Program is a solution that gives them the tools they need to harness their own inner-strength and overcome their obstacles. The program’s workshops feature videos of Prem Rawat’s empowering international talks on themes such as dignity, choice and hope.

“The Peace Education Program tries only to achieve one simple thing: it’s to put you in touch with yourself,” says Rawat.

While the goal is simple, the impact was profound for Alyce Knaflich, a veteran who suffered from post-traumatic stress, depression and homelessness for 10 years. She credits PEP with giving her the confidence to now work as the executive director of Aura Home Women Vets, a charity in Asheville, NC that provides housing and support to homeless women veterans.

Veteran Alyce Knaflich shares her story in this video.

“I was lost. Prem Rawat and his message in the program, it brought me home. And my home is my heart. Peace starts on the inside,” says Knaflich.

She has incorporated the Peace Education Program into Aura Home’s services to help her clients have the same enriching experience that she did.

“Prem’s message will help them heal their emotional stress, and ease the transition of coming out of the military and trying to find a new career path. It will help them center themselves and bring out their confidence,” says Knaflich.

About The Event

In this conversation, CCARE’s founder and director, Dr. James Doty, will discuss compassion, meditation, and biology of aging with Dr. Elissa Epel. The hour-long dialogue will be followed by questions from the audience and a book signing. The talk will be recorded and posted to CCARE’s YouTube Channel and website several weeks after the event.

About Dr. Elissa Epel

Elissa Epel, Ph.D, is a Professor at UCSF in the Department of Psychiatry. She studies how chronic stress can impact aspects of biological aging (including the telomere/telomerase system), and how behavioral, mindfulness, and meditation interventions may buffer stress effects and promote psychological and physiological thriving. She co-leads the NIH Stress Network and a UC obesity research consortium, linking other UC campuses in the study of stress, sugar, food addiction, and obesity. Dr. Epel is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, steering council member for the Mind and Life Institute, and President Elect of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research. About

Empowering Women through Writing, Weaving and Sharing
Be heard, connect with your inner resources and cultivate courage to create change.

Our Mission

To create a woven tapestry based on the stories of 1,000 women globally by 2020 that will be exhibited internationally to shine a light on the creative accomplishments of women while calling attention to the challenges women currently face world-wide.

To foster a culture of self-knowledge and sharing that builds courage and fosters a sense of power in women everywhere to contribute to their communities in positive ways.

To allow women to tell the story of their lives, as a catalyst for change, particularly by opening up discussions about issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse in a safe and supportive way.

To promote resilience, compassion, open communication, healing and peace in individuals and communities.

Intro to the Project

Participating in Woven Voices is a journey that starts with self-reflection and writing, and transforms into a woven tapestry, a visual storyboard of women’s lives from around the globe. The 3 elements of the Woven Voices project work together as tools to access, claim, and celebrate our power as individuals and together as a global community of women.

Living in Co-creative Partnership with Nature: A Path to Wholeness

  • Sweetwater Sanctuary  Danby, VT (map)
Gardens at Sweetwater

Gardens at Sweetwater

Join ONE vision council members Pam Montgomery, Jen Frey, and Lauren Valle for this dynamic weekend of coming home to our first and true Mother as we heal our relationship with her.

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

Connecting with Sweetwater Creek

At this time in our evolution we have the privilege of being present here on Earth as she is in rapid transformation. As the Earth shifts, we are asked to adapt and, more importantly, to evolve into the Earth Stewards we are meant to be, taking up our rightful place as part of Nature. When we accept our role as co-creative partners with Nature, a new world emerges where all life can thrive. We continuously have access to support and guidance from Nature and our allies and realize that we are never alone. We move into the flow, working with Nature. Often overwhelming tasks become easy or perceived impossibilities become possible.

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

The Center at Sweetwater Sanctuary

During this weekend we will engage in the process of becoming co-creative partners with Earth as we delve deeply into the ways to create good partnership:

  • Healing separation

  • Effective communication

  • Self-love

  • Trust

  • Joyful encounter

From within co-creative partnership we rise to walk in balance, coming home to ourselves and our Mother Earth, while we experience the interconnected web of life.

About Sweetwater Sanctuary

Sweetwater Sanctuary, our venue for this weekend, sits at the base of Marble Mountain and is surrounded by 10,000 acres of conserved land. Heart Spring, just outside our back door, brings forth from the Earth “wild water” which nourishes all your cells as you drink the most delicious water you can imagine. The lifeblood of the land is the mountain stream that flows centrally through the Sanctuary. It is this life-giving water that we listen to as we settle into our hearts and go into depth perception. The gardens are full of medicinal herbs, beautiful flowers and nourishing food. Wander amongst the wild plants and forest full of mixed hardwoods and evergreens while being touched by the embrace of nature. This land has received many ceremonies over the years and prayers are made on a regular basis. Your experience here goes beyond information exchange touching into your heart, soul and spirit for core integration, assimilation, and connection with yourself and nature. The Nature Beings of Sweetwater Sanctuary know how to live in community and want to welcome us back into co-creative partnership so that we all may thrive. As you are held in the nurturing fold of Sweetwater Sanctuary transformation is not only possible but probable.

You will:

  • Have restorative time immersed in the vibrant nature of Sweetwater Sanctuary

  • Connect deeply with your Nature Ally

  • Uncover the roots of separation hindering a deeper relationship with Earth

  • Gather in community around a Fire circle

  • Develop a personal path for moving forward in co-creative partnership with Nature

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Nicole Sangsuree Barrett. She was hit by a car when she attempted to cross the Chiang Mai superhighway in Thailand on foot. It was determined that Nicole died instantly from the collision. She had friends with her who witnessed the accident and were grieving heavily by the time the emergency services arrived. After rescue teams helped calm Nicole’s friends, the women asked everyone to sing the Thai song “Deuan Pen” as it was her favorite song. Nicole will be missed at Women of Wisdom. She was a dynamic performer and an amazing activist and woman. Here is a video she finished just before her death. She performed this on our stage for the 2014 Women of Wisdom conference to the delight of many. It is an amazing tribute of her talent, beauty, and passion. We will miss you Nicole but know that your light continues to shine and your journey continues.

HOW WE CAN BEGIN TO HEAL OUR BROKEN WORLD – A Healing Story Approach @ Online
Sep 10 @ 8:00 pm

HOW WE CAN BEGIN TO HEAL OUR BROKEN WORLD

For more than 26 years, I’ve been helping individuals and communities creatively navigate difficult transitions — such as loss of a loved one, livelihood, illness, or bursting forth of a life unlived, the collective trauma of community disaster — through story-making. I’m now finishing a book — a combination memoir and workbook — about my healing story approach.

Not since 9/11, have I felt such urgency to put my work in service to healing our national culture. For the next year and half, I’m going to be offering more community reconciliation programs to counter-attack the hate and violence-filled narratives that the Administration and its minions are flooding media with. I’m targeting my programs now to change-makers: healers, writers, storytellers, teachers, activists.

Here’s the mistake many are making: Focusing on Trump’s media grabs day after day. This only gives energy to his evil and distracts from the fact that millions of citizens support him as a cult – meaning a disregard for facts in favor of allegiance to a leader that makes false promises, but is interested only in expanding his own power and wealth. But how can we pull followers out of this cult? Not by judging, preaching, haranguing.

Rather by listening, engaging, finding non-political common ground, by sharing our stories – not our victim tales, but a deeper story that is always flowing like a river beneath the surface of our lives – where we are one people, one race, one blood.

On Sept. 10, at 8 pm eastern, I’m going to be offering a free introduction to a 3-step healing story process for people who would like to use story in their community, therapeutic, or classroom programs, but may not know how. That’s Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8 pm eastern time.

To register and receive the link, write to me at juIietbrucephd@gmail.com.

Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Juliet Bruce, Ph.D.

2019 Festival Tickets & Passes

Tickets & passes are now on sale of the 2019 Global Peace Film Festival

Sept. 16-22, 2019

About the Festival

The Global Peace Film Festival, established in 2003, uses the power of the moving image to further the cause of peace on earth. From the outset, the GPFF envisioned “peace” not as the absence of conflict but as a framework for channeling, processing and resolving conflict through respectful and non-violent means.

People of good faith have real differences that deserve to be discussed, debated and contested.

GPFF works to connect expression – artistic, political, social and personal – to positive, respectful vehicles for action and change. The festival program is carefully curated to create a place for open dialogue, using the films as catalysts for change.

Don’t miss out on our Online Global Peace Film Festival, which goes live Monday, Sept. 16. Visit peacefilmest.org to watch the films in our online festival wherever you are, on whatever device you want!

Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook

79 minutes | USA | 2019

What would happen if political operatives tried to subvert the sacred American principle of “one person, one vote”? What if they hatched and pursues that plan for years before anyone noticed what they were doing? That is the frightening tale told in Rigged. Narrated by Jeffrey Wright, and filmed during the 2016 election, the film identifies and unpacks a shrewd ten-part strategy developed by Republicans to suppress votes that would be cast against them. In the wake of the 2018 elections, our democracy is in peril. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) states in the film, “I fear for our younger people. I fear they will not have the kind of democracy I experienced… Somebody’s got to say, ‘This is not right.” Somebody’s got to say, ‘We can do better.’”

Around the world, fresh shoots are already emerging as people develop the skills, will and resources necessary to recapture the initiative and re-imagine civilization, often in the ruins of collapsed mainstream economies. Our current economic structure is centered on growth which is straining our finite resources. What if we developed an economic structure with human engagement and meaning at its centre?

World Peace Card Meditations
Wednesday, September 18, 7:30pm

(based on local time in your time zone)

International Center for Reiki Training <reiki@reiki.org

You are invited to take part in the next World Peace Card Meditation. Please mark your calendar and forward this email to all your friends.

Thanks for Your Help!

Because so many of you forwarded this email to your friends, there have been almost 396,800 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been nearly 440,000! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.

The next World Peace Card group meditation have been scheduled for Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30pm. This is local time in your time zone. This method has been chosen because of the special effect it produces. As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave which gets stronger and stronger as it circles the planet. Because of the higher dimensional nature of consciousness, the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.

Reports from those who took part in the previous meditations indicate many had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with those taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with each for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future. All those who have received the cards are being asked to meditate on world peace at this time. By taking part in this group meditation, you’ll be joining thousands of people who will be using the cards to bring peace to the world. By joining together, the affect we have will be greatly multiplied. This powerful experience and will help shift the vibration of our wonderful planet into a higher state of consciousness. As you use the cards to meditate on world peace, you will be a beacon through which peace will spread around the planet which will have a positive uplifting effect on all people. Please set aside this time to meditate with the cards. The suggested meditation period is 15 minutes, but of course you can meditate longer if you’d like to. The technique I’d like you to use is based on allowing yourself to be a beacon of peace. The World Peace Cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations and are relay stations for higher consciousness. By simply opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. To do this, hold the cards in your hands or place them in front of you. Then simply meditate on peace. We are entering a new era. Our entire planet including all the people and living things are moving into a place where it will be much easier to solve our problems and to create peace, prosperity and happiness for everyone. The World Peace Card meditation will quicken this process, making it easier for people to experience this new quality of higher consciousness and will provide great benefit for all people. Since this benefit will be flowing through you out to everyone on the planet, you’ll be blessed by this experience as well. Many have received the cards in the mail or in the Reiki News Magazine while others have downloaded them from our web site. If you would like additional copies of the cards, please download them using this link and print as many copies as you can use. Please feel free to give them to your friends. Also, forward this email to anyone you feel would like to take part in the meditation.

New Reiki Grid – Send Reiki to Others

We also have a new image of the World Peace Crystal Grid that can be used for a Reiki Grid. By using it for your Reiki Grid you’ll be tapping into the energy of all the peace grids and this will add to the energy that is sent to all those whose names or photos you place in the grid making the Reiki more effective and adding wonderful feelings of peace and harmony. And each time you charge your grid, you’ll be charging the peace grids for world peace! With this system you’ll use 12 crystals around the outside – placing 1 crystal over each of the crystals in the photo plus 1 crystal in the center and 1 as your master crystal for a total of 14 crystals. The additional crystals will also hold and transmit more energy. Also, remember you can place your goals into the grid as well. I suggest printing it on glossy photo paper if you have it or you could get some at your office supply store. You’ll need to trim the one side of the grid after it’s printed. https://www.reiki.org/Download/NPGridLetterSizeRGB.pdf

Because so many of you forwarded this email to your friends, there have been more than 396,500 downloads of the World Peace Cards. This is a tremendous increase in the number of people using the cards. So far the total number of World Peace Card sets downloaded, received from our free offer and from our magazine has been over 439,700! I hope you have been using your peace cards as their use brings blessings to the world as well as to you.

The next World Peace Card group meditation has been scheduled for SEPTEMBER 18 at 7:30pm.

The week of Sep 21-27 includes the following key events:

Together these dates comprise a Global week of action on peace, climate, SDGs and nuclear abolition.

Flyers on the Global Week: Taking action together

Abolition 2000 has established a working group to build cooperation between climate, SDG, peace and disarmament organisations to take action during the week. For more information see the Abolition 2000 flyer on the Global Week for Peace, the Climate, SDGs and Nuclear Abolition Sep 21-27.

Connections between peace, climate protection, SDGs and disarmament

UN Charter (Article 26) recognises the connection between disarmament and sustainable development. Article 26 requires the UN to facilitate disarmament ‘in order to promote the establishment and maintenance of international peace and security with the least diversion for armaments of the world’s human and economic resources.’

More recently the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. In addition, Securing our Common Future: An Agenda for Disarmament, the disarmament agenda released in 2018 by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, outlines the links between disarmament and many of the SDGs.

Key events and actions:

Sep 21: International Day for Peace

  • UN event: International Day of Peace Student Observance, United Nations, 20 September 2019. Watch it on webtv.un.org
  • Peace One Day event in London: with civil society leaders and celebrities that will be live-streamed globally.
  • List your event at Peace One Day, a global platform to share, find out about or join actions for Peace Day.

For further information see the UN website on International Day for Peace. Share your ideas and activities through #PeaceDay and #ClimateAction.

 Sep 23: UN Climate Summit

Sep 24-25: Summit on Sustainable Development

Action: Call on your government to highlight at the SDG Summit the importance of peace and demilitarisation in achieving the SDGs, and support the proposal of Kazakhstan that all countries redirect 1% of their military budget to the SDGs.

Sep 26: International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons

Actions:
a) Encourage your Prime Minister/President to attend the Sep 26 UN High-Level Meeting on Nuclear Disarmament and call on all States to never launch a nuclear war, and to negotiate for the abolition and elimination of nuclear weapons;

Climate Action Summit 2019

The Secretary-General will convene a Climate Action Summit in September 2019 to bring climate action to the top of the international agenda. Mr. Luis Alfonso de Alba, a former Mexican diplomat, will be his Special Envoy to lead its preparations.

The Summit will focus on the heart of the problem – the sectors that create the most emissions and the areas where building resilience could make the biggest difference – as well as provide leaders and partners the opportunity to demonstrate real climate action and showcase their ambition.

Mindful Kids Peace Summit @ Online
Sep 23 – Sep 27 all-day

Promoting Peace, Passion and Positivity
 Who is your host?

Fifteen year old Adam Avin, created Wuf Shanti, to teach mindfulness techniques, so children can live in health and wellness, peace and positivity. Through videos, books, mobile app, music, fun, and games, children learn yoga, meditation, communication, inclusion, and positive thinking to help them stay physically fit, mentally less stressed, able to cope with emotions, and interact with kindness. Wuf Shanti has been honored to receive many awards, and Adam is honored to have been published in many national publications, interviewed many pioneers for his “Partners of Peace” series, founded the Kids Association for Mindfulness in Education, and to be co-founder and hosting the Mindful Kids Peace Summit. Adam is certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for teens, Kidding Around Yoga, and the Emotion Code.
Visit me at www.wufshanti.com or like our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/wufshanti
Check out Adam’s TEDX talk at https://youtu.be/2r6TWTqr8FM about getting mindful SEL programs into all schools K-12, why mental health education is so important to stopping violence, and using our voice to make a positive difference in the world.
 Who is your host?

Helen Maffini is the host of the 2018 Mindfulness in Education Summit, she is a doctoral researcher, author and educator. Helen is the creator of the MindBE preschool curriculum used in schools across Asia. She is co-author of the book Developing Children´s Emotional Intelligence and creator of the course Thriving Kids -A Path to Compassion, Caring and Confident Children!

************************************************************************************************

Welcome to the first international Mindful Kids Peace Summit. The idea for this summit came because Adam was concerned about the violence in the world, and he wanted to help kids learn to live in health and wellness, and peace and positivity, so that they can grow up to live healthier and happier lives.

The statistics for the number of tweens and teens anxiety, depression, anger, bullying, suicide, and homicide have risen greatly in the past few years, and some kids may think there is nothing they can do about it. But there is. Mindfulness tools can help kids to learn better ways to cope with emotions or deal with stress as they grow up, and hopefully they will be happier teenagers and more peaceful adults. These tools can also help you do better in school, and make a positive impact on the world as well.
At this summit, you will hear from pioneers in the industry, who will share with you different techniques you can use to navigate through and process emotions and stress. You will watch demonstrations, panels, and motivational speeches from celebrities and professional athletes, who will share with you their health and wellness routines, their charitable endeavors, foundations, and what they do to make a positive difference in the world. You will also see demonstrations that you can try at home, in school, and with your parents, teachers, and friends.
Topics that will be covered include anything in the mindfulness area, such as mindfulness, positive thinking, kindness, peace, yoga and mindful movement, breath work, communication, diversity, inclusion, gratitude, social emotional learning, and so much more. It is all so important, especially with everything going on in the world right now.
We must all come together in order to stop the violence and make a positive impact. Just as reading and math are mandatory parts of curriculum, we believe so too should mindfulness be incorporated into education. Our vision is to build momentum so that all schools across the country and internationally attend the Summit each year at the same time as part of the curriculum. Talking points and materials will be distributed to schools that attend, so that the teachers can plan discussions around the daily summit segments, and kids will be awarded service points for attending via an attendance certificate that we will provide by email to the school. Further details will be emailed to you during the summit on how to receive certificates.
We hope you will join us on this magnificent mindful journey of peace.
Thank you,
Adam and Helen

You’re invited to enjoy a very special weekend of renewal and transformation on powerful Mount Shasta in Northern California. Long considered one of the seven sacred mountains of the world, Mount Shasta holds a vibrant transformative energy that seekers the world over travel to experience. Graceful and deeply profound, Mount Shasta is an immense energy center filled with opportunities to connect deeply with the Heart of the Living Earth. How long has it been since you listened?

Your guided journey begins at 4pm on Thursday October 3rd with a welcoming circle and delicious dinner, and ends on Sunday October 6th at 12pm with our closing circle. Throughout your experience you will enjoy opportunities to connect and communicate with Pachamama and the more than human beings that she nourishes. You will:

shasta group.jpg
  • ·Travel to the Mountain for exploration and prayers

  • Learn simple yet profound techniques to help you more easily hear the language of non verbal beings, including Heart Coherence, extra sensory perception, Grazing, and Earthing

  • Experience communication with the Water People, Rock People, Animal People, Plant People, Tree People and the Mountain Herself

  • Be transformed through earth based ceremony

  • Feast in joyful communion in our Sacred Kitchen

  • Make an alchemical sacred anointing oil that you’ll take home

  • Enjoy lively discussions, laughter and heart-centered community connection

This will be a time of deeply connecting to oneself, the mountain, nature and the cosmic forces supporting our spiritual evolution. We live in a sacred world that is not just more complex than we think – it’s more complex than we can think. We’ll move out of the “thinking ball” on top of our bodies and settle deep into our hearts to learn a new language. We go to the mountain to listen. We go for new direction. We go to play. You’ll return home with a renewed sense of connection, gratitude, and deep appreciation for the unique and interconnected place you hold in life’s tapestry.

Lodging

Lodging opportunities at our retreat center include shared bedrooms in the main house, shared space in the smaller yurt (yurt spaces include a bed and curtains to separate your space from the rest of the yurt if desired), and “glamping” tent sites with two beds per tent. You might initially feel awkward about sharing sleeping rooms, but part of the weekend’s experience is to remember the gifts of community that come with sharing space in a world that supports increasing isolation. If you have a preference for a particular space, please indicate your preference when you register and we’ll do our very best to accommodate you. See slide show below for photos.

Things to Bring

  • An item from your kitchen that has personal significance to you. These will be placed on our Sacred Kitchen alter, and you’ll take them home again at the end of the journey.

  • A homemade gift for our giveaway. This could be a piece of art, a jar of jam, a poem – anything you’ve personally made with your hands and your heart.

  • Folding camp chair and blanket for your outdoor comfort. The evenings can be chilly on the mountain in early October.

  • Sunscreen

  • Water Bottles. I recommend bringing extras to fill with fresh living spring water from the Sacramento River Headwaters so you can take some of this amazing water home with you.

  • Paper or journal, with an extra pen.

  • Drums, rattles, guitars, and other musical instruments – if you wish

  • A walking stick (optional)

  • A day pack

  • Snacks or special foods you might need.

Meet Your Facilitators

Julie Caldwell, MA

julie+in+shop1.jpg

Over two decades ago Julie opened the doors of Humboldt Herbals ~ a full service herbal apothecary located in the heart of the Redwoods on the pristine northern California coast. She and her staff of experienced herbalists now serve hundreds of community members each month who rely on Humboldt Herbals as a primary source of health care.

Originally from Alabama, Julie grew up with a plant talking granny, a pharmacist father, an artist mother, and loads of fiddle-playing, guitar picking relatives. Her first serious relationship with a plant began over 45 years ago at age 5, when she became great friends with a wild black cherry tree her granny called Crazy Doug. Julie’s “formal” education includes a BS in research psychology and biology, a MA in contemporary American poetry, and many, many herb classes including extensive studies with Pam Montgomery. The works of Pam, Stephen Harrod Buhner and Rosemary Gladstar have greatly influenced her herbal approach. She serves on the Visioning Council for the Organization of Nature Evolutionaries, and continues to enjoy a long history of spiritual exploration with wise ones from various traditions around the world.

Julie offers personal sessions, classes and herb walks in the Humboldt County area, and facilitates ongoing retreats in sacred Mount Shasta. To learn more about Julie’s classes, services, and herb shop, you can sign up for the Humboldt Herbals monthly newsletter at www.humboldtherbals.com.

Elyshia Holliday

elyshia+flowers+2a.jpg

In the spring of 2000 Elyshia left her thriving naturopathic practice in the Central Valley of California and moved to the mountains of New Mexico, where she co-founded a non-profit organization dedicated to healing the relationship between human beings and Mother Earth. She studied with many teachers and elders in the course of supporting this mission, who were called upon to guide and share their innate perspective of living as part of a whole earth system. Their wisdom and knowledge has had a profound influence on the way Elyshia views life, healing, and our basic guardianship of earth.

Growing up in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon created a unique opportunity to be close to the mountains, waters, trees and the wild in her everyday life. The quietness of the land allowed Elyshia to learn to listen to nature, to the wind blowing through the tall pines and currents of the river flowing across skin. It was good preparation!

Although it seems the most important things she learned came from elders, the cosmos and the Earth herself, Elyshia’s formal education includes a BS in Biology with concentrations in molecular biology and biochemistry as well as Master Herbalist, Master Iridologist and Naturopathy certificates from the School of Natural Medicine in Boulder, Colorado where she studied with Farida Sharan.

Julie and Elyshia at the Global Earth Repair Conference

Julie and Elyshia at the Global Earth Repair Conference

Much of the work Elyshia has done and continues to do is centered around community group facilitation, sacred nourishment, and helping people expand their relationship with Mother Earth. Since 2016 she has initiated and been engaged with a multi year regeneration project focused on healing the human-land-water relationship, especially in relation to erosion, desertification and the balance of the masculine and feminine. Elyshia continues to contribute in New Mexico and is the Executive Director of O.N.E..

Deposit and Registration

Deposit of $150 holds your place (nonrefundable). We will email registration form after we receive your deposit. The remaining balance of the sliding scale you choose is due by August 25th. Please email info@natureevolutionaries with any questions.
